Old hospital sold to become apartments in Gladewater
The Leake Clinic and Hospital at the Dean and Glade Streets intersection was sold to Scott Hahlen 40 who plans to convert the building into about nine one bedroom and fifteen single room apartments. He hopes first units are ready before August 1 with rents around 15 to 30 dollars weekly. Hahlen and his family recently moved from Florida seeking a quieter East Texas setting. The 1934 built structure formerly Hotel Day was a hospital from 1952 to 1965 under Dr Bain Leake.
