District Attorney Seeks Curfew For Gregg Teens

Gregg County District Attorney Ralph Prince urged local officials to enact a county wide curfew for youths under 21. He cited vandalism theft and late night sex violations and urged enforcement with parental written consent exceptions. He predicted a fifty percent drop in youth crime with a curfew and criticized recent protests and Supreme Court rights rulings.

Gladewater's 2nd annual Round-Up Rodeo promises comedy thrills and big action with Phillips reelected president of the Round-Up Rodeo Association. Haight Files For City Council Run In April Vote

Ed Haight, an insurance salesman who runs the House of Flowers with his wife, filed to become the fifth candidate for the seven member city council. Four seats will be on the April 1 ballot with incumbents Jenkins and Poston among those whose terms end March 31. Also up for reelection are McKain and Holcomb. Haight moved from Sulphur Springs three years ago and is active in Little League and Pony League, serving as Troop 194 Scout master. The other council members with terms ending in 1970 are Mayor Abernathy, Curtis Bright, and D G Johnston.

William Deanie Sprouse, East Texas businessman, dies at 88

William Deanie Sprouse 88 longtime East Texas resident and businessman died after a three month illness in a Houston nursing home. Funeral services set for Monday at 2 PM in Bailey Mortuary Plain Dealing Louisiana with burial in that city. Survived by son John E Barker Houston two grandchildren Bill Baker and Mrs Pat Rampy four great grandchildren. The Rev Irby D Bates will officiate. He was a church member and had earlier moved from Tennessee to Texas and developed land on Gay Avenue into four residential tracts. His wife passed away last year.
