Lindsay enters race for Democratic presidential nomination

New York Mayor John V. Lindsay announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination and said he would win. In Florida he declared he would state his case bluntly as he seeks voters. Sixteen antiwar veterans ended a blockade at Liberty Island after a federal order and a judge barred further occupation of the Statue of Liberty.

Six Lives Lost In Three Car Collision East Of Gilmer

A three car crash Sunday night near Gilmer killed four people and seriously injured two children. Victims include Gary Norman Hill 20 Ore City. William G. Toombs 23 Hazleton. Ronnie Childress 19 Marshall. Mrs Walter Reeves 57 Big Spring and two granddaughters Tammie Ender 8 and Tana Ender 10 Marshall. A Patrol report notes Hill’s car hit a rear vehicle, then struck Mrs Reeves’s car.

John Claiborne Dies in Kilgore Funeral Set

John A Claiborne a Gladewater resident for 41 years died in a Kilgore nursing home Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rader Funeral Home Chapel Kilgore with burial at Gladewater Memorial Park. He was a retired motel operator and member of Gladewater First United Methodist Church. Surviving are Lavada his wife one daughter Lyn Cofer of Dallas three sisters and two grandsons.

Gladewater Pioneer Mrs A J Money Dies At 87

Mrs Mary Clisse Money 87 died Sunday in a Gladewater hospital after a long illness. A pioneer resident since 1905 she lived 66 years in Gladewater. Funeral at 10 am Monday Malcolm Stone Funeral Home chapel with Rev B F Risinger officiating. Burial at Rosedale Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Mrs J A Phillips two sons Bert Alvin Herbert, two sisters, 15 grandchildren 38 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Kilgore Celebrates Centennial with Munn Banquet

Kilgore kicks off its Centennial Year in 1972 with the Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on January 14 at the Community Inn. Speaker Melvin T. Texas lawmaker praises state stability and education quality

State Representative John Allen of Longview told the Gladewater Kiwanis Club Texas is in good hands amid the stock scandal. He highlighted a balanced budget, no personal or corporate income tax, and no tax on food or medicines, plus strong educational funding and teacher salaries in Gregg County. He criticized Mauzy and McKool as liberals and warned of redistricting challenges while urging state action on private school funding and no fault insurance.

Longview to Host Security Seminar

Art Sweeney announces Longview selected for an Industrial College of the Armed Forces National Security Seminar. The ten day school runs January 15 to 26, 1973, with about 700 attendees and a steering committee to be named in 1972. Longview is one of seven U S cities hosting seminars in 1972 73.
