Mrs Leroya Wilson 64 died at home 402 Live Oak around 11 57 Sunday night from a heart attack after hosting a dinner. Funeral 2 30 Tuesday Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev Conrad Winborn officiating. Burial Memorial Park. Survived by husband four sisters and parents Mr Mrs Sam Bean. She moved to Gladewater in the 1930s and was active in First United Methodist Church Garden Club Daleth Study Club and several bridge clubs. Sheriff Crawford to be honored on Gregg County day

Retiring Gregg County sheriff Noble Crawford will be honored with a county wide Noble Crawford Day on Thursday. He will relinquish office January 1 when Sheriff-elect Tom Welch is sworn in. Mayors of Gladewater Longview Kilgore signed proclamations and Ewing Adams of Longview will chair the arrangements. A testimonial dinner Thursday December 28 at the Contessa Inn at 7 p.m. is open to the public.

Eye-opener Romeo’s between Kilgore and Longview and run by Anthony and Esther Romeo for 27 years has been sold to Johnny Cace, a Longview restaurant owner. Commissioner Camp Escapes Injury in Two-Vehicle Crash

Gregg County Commissioner Hugh Camp was treated and released at Laird Hospital after his 1969 Chrysler pickup collided with a 1969 Ford driven by Gary H. Pilgrim of Kilgore. Passenger Paul Rasberry of Tyler was taken to Laird Hospital. Highway Patrolman C W Welch investigated the 4 45 p m crash at SH 31 and FM 1639.

City gains land for airport expansion near Gladewater

The City of Gladewater received a deed from the Shepperd estate for 2.9 acres adjacent to the city airport. The land will allow runway expansion to 4000 feet under pending plans. Agreement was reached Wednesday morning between John Ben Shepperd, his son Alfred, and city officials led by the City Attorney Ernest Martin.

Prayer And City Land Deal Rename Airport Doc Shepperd Field

A city acquires land from the Shepperd family for airport modernization and names the project Doc Shepperd Field. Ernest Martin represents negotiations with no funds exchanged, providing a livestock access easement around the runway end. SWEPCO to Invest 31.3 Million in Texas in 1973

Southwestern Electric Power Company plans a 1973 budget of 45 million with Texas investment over 31.3 million to meet rising demand. Five year plan totals exceed 365 million including new generating capacity and lines. The Knox Lee Power Plant unit five, 351000 kilowatts, should be in service early 1974.
