Crest News From Sabine River Floods in Gladewater Area
The Sabine River crest reached 41.35 feet Wednesday and fell to 37 by Friday after flooding in Gladewater. Flood stage is 26 feet with extensive inundation and stranded cattle but no major losses reported. Longview crest reached 36 feet with flood stage at 35.5 feet and a slow fall expected. Glade Creek cross and Gay Ave bridge area also fell as barriers remained.

The annual Christmas Home Lighting Contest co sponsored by Southwestern Electric Power Company and the Garden Club named winners in two divisions with cash prizes. First division over 25 dollars awarded to Gary Kizer 1207 Chevy Chase and Mack Wiley 804 Willow Boulevard. second division under 25 dollars awarded to Jack Barrow Gilmer Highway and Max Copeland 1113 Nelwyn. Door prize went to Billy Grimes 1020 Chevy Chase.
