UT Austin lists 380 tentative business graduates this term

The University of Texas at Austin ends fall with over 380 tentative candidates for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree as of December 22. No public graduation exercises will be held. William David Mullins is among the candidates, son of Mr and Mrs L D Mullins.

Tornadic Storm Strikes Gladewater Causing $75,000 Damage

A Tuesday 8 p.m. tornado ripped Gladewater, causing downed power lines, shattered plate glass, uprooted trees, and damaged hangars at the airport. No injuries were reported as crews battled outages. river Sabine rose to 41.35 feet with further rises expected.

Chamber Directors Hear Progress Report On Building And Parade

Chamber of Commerce directors received a progress report on the new building and a review of a very successful Christmas parade. Chairman Bill Wagner announced roofing supplies on hand and partial HVAC work completed. Parade chairman Leon Kapchinsky called the event likely the citys largest, citing 11 floats, several bands, marching groups, and a Dairy Queen donation. The upcoming Christmas post-drive will start after the holiday with chairs F Anes Lawrence Joe J Jones and Ollie Duecey named.

Epoxy Dedication Plans Completed in Gladewater

Final arrangements for Epoxy Chemical Corp new Glade Paints plant dedication are underway. U S Senator John Tower will give the principal address at 4 pm with Gregg County Judge Henry Atkinson introducing him. An open house runs from 10 am to the ceremony with plant tours and a 10 am press conference with officers and local dignitaries.

Vocational School Programs Reviewed in Gladewater

Gladewater school board discussed four vocational programs led by teachers at Monday night session. Second year offerings include building trades, office education, auto mechanics and printing. Board reviewed November tax reports and approved November expenses and a new printing department press purchase seeking state aid.
