Municipal Hospital Awards Banquet Honors Retirees and Staff

Gladewater Municipal Hospital held its annual awards banquet in the high school cafeteria naming three retirees and presenting tenure pins ranging from five to twenty years. Hospital officials praised the team as a whole while Mrs Alexandra Burago received a 20 year award and spoke proudly of U S citizenship after arriving from Latvia decades ago.

Gregg County voters urged to sign mail certificates

Longview official Bill Harper reminded Gregg County voters to sign the voter certificate applications mailed from his office and return them by mail so certificates can be issued by January 3 and qualify voters for next year’s elections. He said 18,122 certificates were mailed countywide and total county registration, including 18 year olds, is about 32,000 to 35,000.

Santa Claus to Visit Gladewater City Hall

Santa will arrive in his sleigh at Gladewater City Hall on December 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. He returns December 20 21 22 and 23 with the same hours to hear children and families. Citizens are invited to visit the jolly visitor from the North Pole during this festive event.

Tippett Dies at 79. Services Held in Gladewater

George Thomas Tippett 79, longtime Gladewater resident since 1933, died Thursday in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Friday at Malcolm Stone Chapel with burial Saturday in Clanton Concord Cemetery, Alabama. Survivors include wife Clara, son Ross Tippett, a sister, four brothers, and two grandchildren.
