Texas Tourism Grows With Armadillo Events and High Visitor Count
The 1973 travel guide will feature the International Armadillo Exposition in Victoria and the World Championship Armadillo Races in Uvalde. Texas Highway Department logs show over 1.4 million visitors to travel bureaus in the first ten months, surpassing the 1971 annual record by Oct 31. Travelers arrive by car, bus, camping rig, or on foot, with a Michigan visitor planning a farm road tour and two Canadians en route to Brownsville by ten-speed bicycles.
