Ronnie Williams 18, son of Welton and Mrs. Williams of Gladewater, awarded $600 academic scholarship by Gregg County ex students to study chemical engineering at the University of Texas. A first string football player, he graduates this May and has attend UT summer sessions. He ranks 10th in class and is National Honor Society and Who's Who in American High Schools. A L Mutt Allen 50 street superintendent for Gladewater died Wednesday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Malcolm Stone Funeral Home in charge. Burial followed at Gladewater Memorial Park. He is survived by his widow Mary Thelma two sons Roy Lewis and Robert L. two daughters Mrs Louis White and Mrs Mildred Diviney his father John Allen four sisters and three brothers.
