Quitman and Center Church of Christ in Gladewater Long History
The Quitman and Center Church of Christ in Gladewater traces roots to the early 1900s. The original meeting place sat at Ferry and Upshur, later moved to Quitman and Center Streets with 1918 deed work by T. J. Allison and Ann for church use. The brick building was erected in 1934 with ministers including J A Dickey and Foy E Wallace Sr. The 1956 expansion added classrooms and a larger auditorium. The church supports missions in Kilgore College, Gladewater, Franklin La, Oak Grove La, Cortez Colo, and Jennings La, plus benevolent homes such as Sunny Glen and Hilltop Haven.
