Punt Pass Kick Registration Opens for Youths
Local youngsters may register for the 1973 Punt Pass & Kick program co sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Gladewater and Davidson Ford Sales. Nationally the program reaches 13th year with vast participation. twelve age group finalists will compete at halftime of the Super Bowl in Houston January 13, 1974. Winners are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio.

Shreveport hosts Joe Dawson Night honoring Ralph Fenton Dawson of Longview a former Pittsburgh Pirate. In 1920 while in San Diego he faced Babe Ruth in a November sandlot game watched by 10 000 fans as Ruth hit a homer and Dawson pitched in the second inning.

Oklahoma funeral rites for Mrs. Bessie Power at Enid cemetery
Mrs. Bessie Power 81 died after a three weeks illness in a local hospital. A Nebraska native who lived in Enid and Texas, she moved to Enid in 1921 with her family. Graveside rites were held at Memorial Cemetery Enid. Surviving are her daughter Mrs. Eddie Nelson and two brothers Frank and Rile McNeill.

She will attend Gladewater High School as a senior and plans to study languages in college after returning home. Her father is a lawyer and a Rotarian. her mother is a Sweden born Iranian native.

Council approves raise in gas rates
