New Jury Wheel Reconstituted in Gregg County
Gregg County officials filled a new jury wheel selecting eight lists of 200 names from about 26 000 registered voters for 1971. The wheel excludes 18 to 20 year olds under a state attorney general ruling. County officers oversee the jury system, now mandatory for counties over 10 000 population.

Local Lifeguard Attends ARC Aquatic School
Mary Jane Wiley a lifeguard at the school swimming pool was among 114 students from 14 states chosen for the American National Red Cross Aquatic School in Tyler this summer. The 10 day program cost 75 dollars, covered six water survival skills, and drew mostly college students. Wiley, a Gladewater High School senior, drum major and National Honor Society member, has led youth programs and volunteered as lifeguard for YOU day camp.

Court redraws four justice precincts in Gregg County
Gregg County Commissioners Court reduced justice precincts to four and increased polling places to twenty.
