Blood bank official urges support for regional center work
Tyler's Stewart Blood Center administrator Robert Av Fry outlines growing demand for whole blood in the 18 000 square mile B county service area. The center serves 45 East Texas hospitals, processes and dispenses roughly equal amounts of blood, and maintains about 44 pints on hand. A bloodmobile will hold a donor drive at Kurst United Methodist Church in Gladewater on April 29 from 8 am to 5 pm. Donors can give every eight weeks. there are eight blood types and 13 tests before use. Fry notes new equipment to freeze red cells and emphasizes donor pools to ensure availability. He is a longtime AABB member and Baylor College of Medicine consultant.

Comptroller Bob Bullock mailed 11.9 million in April city sales tax rebates to 516 cities and towns. Year to date remittances total 87.4 million to 845 municipalities, with 1975 city tax receipts up 10 percent from 1974 and state receipts up 12.5 percent.

School Board Set to Reorganize Monday at Gladewater
Gladewater school board will reorganize at Monday night meeting after reelected incumbents Virgil Wallace and Medro Barnes are sworn in. Officers for 1976 77 will be elected. Agenda includes equalization board appointment and Garfield Hill as Region VII Educational Service Center rep. Resignations and teacher contracts will be renewed, 1967 77 transfers approved, and the year calendar set to begin August 16. The regular session was postponed a week due to the national school board meeting in San Francisco attended by Supt. Roy Johnson and others.
