Gladewater events blend charity game and car wash fundraiser
Gladewater High School clubs host a 7 p.m. charity basketball game between the JV and varsity GHS girls and a women faculty team to aid the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets at The Sampler or at the door, adults 50 cents and children 25 cents. A TARS car wash was rescheduled for Saturday on the city hall lot. More than 300 stockmen farmers and citizens attended Ambassador College's first agriculture field day in East Texas. Dale L Schurter led tours of research facilities with lectures by Dr W E Sedivy Dr Allen Stout and Neal Kinsey plus a livestock feeding talk and soil fertility program. Mrs. A. F. Shepperd Dies in Dallas at 88
Mrs. A F Shepperd known as Doc Shepperd, 88, widow of a Gladewater businessman and pioneer Upshur County family member, died Monday in Brookhaven Hospital Dallas after years of ill health. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Gladewater with burial at Gladewater Memorial Park. Survivors include two sons Alfred E of Dallas and John Ben of Odessa, two sisters and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Upshur County voters in Gladewater Big Sandy and Ore City must cast ballots in Gilmer for two constitutional amendments on Tuesday April 22.
