Howard F. Hall 72 longtime Gladewater businessman died Friday night in a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Monday at Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Charles Hall conducting, assisted by Rev Conrad Winborn. Burial in Gladewater Memorial Park.

Covert Rites Planned for Mrs Clara L Covert in Gladewater
Funeral services for Mrs Clara Lucretia Spencer Covert 86 are set for Sunday at 2 p.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Herman Reagh officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park. She died Friday at 5 15 p.m. after a short illness. Born October 18 1888 in Oronogo Missouri she lived in Gladewater off and on for 20 years and resided with her sister Mrs E E Cook at 715 Martha Drive. She belonged to Union Grove Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are another sister Mrs Bertie Harris of Gladewater 5 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons. Four brothers Fred Earnie Lee and C O Spencer were longtime Gladewater residents. Pallbearers are Julius Morse Leonard Doss Larry Robbins Randy Fuller Tim Bland and Raybert McCrary.

Quentin Abernathy of Gladewater was elected chairman of the Tyler State College Board of Regents at its annual meeting. Jeff Austin Jr. was chosen vice chairman and Jack C. Morgan secretary for a one year term. Dr. James H Stewart Jr. was reelected president of the TSC. The board heard reports on the May 17 commencement at Harvey Hall with speaker Dr. David T. Kelly and noted TSCs full membership in the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities and inclusion in the East Texas Oral History Consortium with a $7,000 grant.
