In a special session the city council approved rezoning requests from oil heavy industrial to residential and other classifications behind Oak Manor Nursing Home and West Lee addition. West Gay drainage project under way in Kay Acres area
City crews began installing over 2 500 feet of steel reinforced concrete pipe in 18 24 27 and 30 inch sizes to relieve a serious drainage problem in Kay Acres and West Gay Avenue. Engineering studies show drainage improvement and possible future widening of Gay Avenue. The project costing about 12 000 will take about a month. City Manager John R. Marshall notes anticipated inconvenience to residents.
