State Sen McKnight Moves To Charge Fair Market Price On Gas From State Lands

State Sen Peyton McKnight of Tyler seeks permission for state agencies to take action to charge the fair market price for natural gas from state lands. Funeral services for Mary Naomi Shott Tuesday

Mary Naomi Shott died Monday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Central Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ira Bristow officiating. Burial followed in White Oak cemetery, Welch Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include her mother Minnie Shott. sisters LaVada Shott, Mrs. W. H. Cash of Mineola, and Mrs. John Shirk of Syracuse. brothers Vernon Shott of Longview, Garland Shott and James Shott of Gladewater. a large number of nieces and nephews.

Grady Coleman rites Tuesday afternoon

William Grady Coleman 82 died Sunday morning at Veterans Hospital Shreveport after six weeks as patient. He suffered a heart attack earlier and death was due to heart complications. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Conrad Winborn officiating. Burial in Rosedale Cemetery. Survived by wife Eula a son Tom A Coleman in Munich Germany a daughter Sue Ellen Parrish of Houston one sister L E Barr of Carrollton and three grandchildren.

Carl Eeds rites held Wednesday

Funeral services for Carl Eeds, 72, were held Wednesday at 10 am in Maolcom Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. B F Risinger officiating. Burial followed in Memory Park in Longview. A retired pumper for Sinclair Oil Company he died Sunday evening in a local hospital. Native of Arkansas he had lived here 40 years and was a Baptist. Survived by three sons Billy Carl Eeds Don L. Eeds Lufkin and Jackie L. Eeds of Washington one brother Jack Eeds Stratford Oklahoma one sister Mrs Iva Johnson Long Beach California and four grandchildren Pallbearers were D L Byrd Billy Byrd E O Slauter E L Smith W L Woodward and Ray Woodward.

Rites Held for Mrs Maye Phillips 64 of Union Grove

Final rites for Mrs Maye Phillips 64 of Union Grove were conducted Tuesday at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at West Mountain Cemetery. She died Sunday after a short illness. Survivors include husband Z L Phillips two daughters Bonnie Willis Owensville Indiana and Maxine Wilkinson Longview one brother Marvin Moore one sister Olvie Graves four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed and several nieces nephews. Born in Homer Louisiana November 6 1890 her family moved to Gladewater in 1892. T A Coleman first teacher in Gladewater schools and father of Grady Coleman is noted with references to Simmons College.

James Pritchett dies after long illness in East Texas hospital

James Bell Pritchett 70, a Gladewater resident for 21 years, died Tuesday morning after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 p.m. at Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Haynes Waller officiating. Burial follows at Rock Springs cemetery. He was a native of Emhouse Navarro County and a retired painter. Surviving: wife Susan. five sons Jamie B. Fred Maxedon 83 Dies. Services Pending

Funeral services pending for 83 year old Fred Maxedon who died Wednesday afternoon in a local hospital. He resided at 101 N Cotton and is survived by his widow Marie and three grandchildren Nan Maxedon Lee Maxedon and Mrs Marie Jackson. A brother Roy Maxedon of Seminole Okla will also survive. Garfield Hill Elected President Of United Fund

Garfield Hill was elected president of the United Fund of Gladewater for 1973 74 at a April 9 meeting. Tim Bland as 1st vice president Dale Barton as 2nd vice president Carson Kennedy treasurer and Marcella Formby secretary were named. Directors named include John Marshall Dickie Phillips Marilyn Godfrey Fred Hull and Jack Earp with terms expiring in 1976 1975 and 1974 respectively. The group approved a 1973 74 budget totaling 14704 64 with allocations to Boy Scouts American Red Cross Camp Fire Girls Salvation Army East Texas Treatment Center USC Medical Research Foundation of Texas Texas United Community Services Gladewater 4 H Clubs Gladewater Boys Baseball Association Benevolent Fund and Expenses. The Gladewater Scuba Club seeks donations to buy an air compressor as it funds rescues and search efforts. $700 has been raised of a $2000 goal and donations can be made by calling 845 2484.

Easter Sunrise Services Planned at City Ball Park

The Gladewater Church Sports Council and Gladewater Ministerial Alliance announce a joint Easter sunrise service on Sunday April 22 at 6 30 a m in the city ball park with three youth groups and lay leaders taking part.
