Gladewater police cleared three break in cases this week with three men in custody. Jessie Tucker 20 Brownsville address arrested at Thriftyman Pantry on Tyler highway south after a 10 50 p m alarm. A 14 year old juvenile was also detained and turned to Gregg County juveniles authorities. Tucker arraigned before City Judge Finley bond five thousand dollars. Darnell Rudewick 23 local motel address surrendered Monday for City Grocery burglary 220 South Main Street. He was arraigned in Longview with bond three thousand dollars and later released after posting bond.

Chasteen Rites Held Wednesday
Funeral services for John Albert Chasteen 67 were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with burial in Rock Springs Cemetery. The Rev B F Risinger Jr officiated. He died Monday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. A retired oilfield worker born June 2 1907 he had lived in Gladewater. Survived by two sons James and Richard and three daughters all of Eagle River plus a grandson 16 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Also a sister and brother reside in Oklahoma. Pallbearers named Wayne Pope Dennis Gage Gary Speed John Murray Ronnie Moore Billy Bratcher James Rose.

Surprise vacation turns into surprise trip for Graysons
Thelma and Harry Grayson unexpectedly flew to Utah to visit their son Air Force Capt. Phil Grayson, after a planned Easter break to Houston. The four day trip included sightseeing in snow while they left Houston and Lone Star Steel worker Harry’s vacation timing disrupted by work rules. Thelma carried home rocks from a Utah stream as mementos of the surprise getaway.
