Pistol Shot Fatal to Waynesboro Deputy Sheriff
In Waynesboro Georgia on October 28 B E Bell deputy sheriff of Burke County killed himself with a pistol at his home. His wife found him near death after the shot while son Roy slept in the room and Rufus had left for a errand. Bell, about 50, leaves a wife and five children. illness and worry were cited as likely causes.

Got His Well Dug
An Irishman named Pat took a contract to dig a well. After twenty feet the well caved in and filled to the top. He hid in bushes with hat and coat on the windlass, and neighbors assumed he lay at the bottom. Hours later Pat crawled out, thanking diggers for freeing him from the dangerous job.

Negro Killed Near St George in Justifiable Homicide
October 29 at St George, Deputy Sheriff Lawton Limehouse fatally shot John Smalls as Smalls advanced with a pistol and a liquor bottle. A coroner's jury ruled the death justifiable homicide. Smalls had earlier fired at another man, who was not severely injured.
