Heavy northwest gales prevented towing, the barge likely anchored off the coast with a full lumber cargo and crew aboard. Wind abating this afternoon offers cautious hope for safety.

In New Britain Connecticut on October 28, Dr. Charles Eugene Monks a leading dentist died from blood poisoning contracted when he jammed a dental instrument into his palm while preparing to sterilize it after treating a patient. The injury led to fatal infection.
