Florence Times reports the Smith Greater Shows carnival closed with a surprise performance. A. M. Bensinger and Grace Moody married at St Anthony of Padua Church after meeting two years earlier during a Clarksville carnival. Witnesses were Mat Gay, Mrs. Margaret Dreyer, and William Dreyer. Moody hails from Clarksville Tennessee.
Lucian F. Underwood a Columbia University botany professor attempted to kill his wife and daughter then stabbed himself to death after returning from New York. He aged 54 had lived in Redding for a year and had eight years with Columbia. Mrs Underwood and daughter were treated. daughter unharmed.
Cunard Line steamer Mauretania leaves Queenstown bound for New York at high speed, advancing with express passage toward a rapid transatlantic crossing.
A South Side church janitor raises chickens in a back yard enclosure and sells eggs to church members. A customer asks for a dozen eggs with delivery in the next two or three days but declines Sunday delivery. The janitor responds that he will bring fresh eggs the following morning.
