Welcome of the new steamship Williams to Winyah Bay

Seventy five prominent citizens ride the tug E T Williams at seven this morning to greet the steel 240 foot S S Williams arriving at Fraser Point and escorted to the harbor. The Zomoor naptha launch also joins the reception with a party of guests aboard. Captain J J Porter and Captain J G Hudgins lead the celebrations as the vessel joins the coastwise fleet to ease freight congestion. May the ship avoid Titanic fate.

Girl jailed for assault and battery on a horse in New York

Rose Basher a seventeen year old domestic at 1871 Third avenue was arrested for assault and battery on a horse outside painter Reuben Cohen's shop. Witnesses say she struck the animal in the left eye after it reared when teased by children. Police citation followed complaints by bystanders John Lutz and Frederick Bordner.
