Served Him Right. Wallace Arrested for Fraud in Batesburg Trial
Lexington reports W M Wallace a black man jailed on charges of obtaining goods by false pretenses. On June 4 he allegedly bought goods from H A Blease of Batesburg and paid with a check drawn on First National Bank Batesburg for 3.02. The case is the county’s first under the new check law. Wallace admits issuing the check and claims he intended to honor it within thirty days.
