Savannah leads with 111 percent growth, St Johns Florida up 700 percent, and other Southern ports showing notable increases. Gulf ports now account for about 38.5 percent of total Atlantic exports, with Southern ports driving substantial growth in the South Atlantic region.

Raise Cowpea Hay for Milk Cow Production

John Michels of Raleigh North Carolina argues cowpea hay is cheaper than cottonseed hulls for milk production. He recommends a supplement of one third cotton seed meal and two thirds corn meal and wheat bran, at about one pound grain per four to five pounds milk, adjusting to poorer roughages with one pound grain per three pounds milk.
