The doubleheader features Winyah Graded School vs Lake City, with Lake City led by Prof. Mukirow. Both teams boast strong practice form and aim to impress in the season opener. Morning game 10 o’clock, afternoon at 4 30. Admission 25 cents, children 10 cents.
Mr and Mrs Josiah Doar attended the closing exercises of the public school and returned to Georgetown. Mrs John Fred Grant visits Eddy Lake and Mrs Lohse with children visit Mrs Dozier. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs I N Vick on a fine girl. Mrs Dozier reports corn 3 and 4 leaves. Fred Morse spends a few days in Georgetown. Chickenpox and mumps are circulating locally.
Orangeburg April 2. The city case against Henry B. Overstreet for unlawful sale of liquor was heard in the mayor's court. A jury was drawn, found him guilty, and the mayor imposed a fine of 99 dollars or 29 days imprisonment.
Chicago officials begin Juvenile Court investigation into Annie Epps a 10 year old who gave birth to a girl at the county hospital. A hospital physician confirmed the mother’s age as ten stating she is among the youngest known in the region.
Moody South Carolina April 12 Our school closing exercises were praised by a large crowd. The next day patrons held a well attended picnic at Harden's Landing to honor Miss Mary Gibson, the teacher who will leave for North Carolina tomorrow. Her work has given entire satisfaction and it is hoped she returns for another term.
