Sgt Kenneth L. Davis son of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Davis of Kenwood Jr. Middlefield Ohio was released from active duty at Camp Carson Colorado after eleven months in Korea. He entered service in December 1950 and belonged to the 64th Heavy Tank Battalion. Also, A-3C Charles F. Peters stationed in Korea spent five days in Japan on R and R and called his Hampden parents Stanley and Nellie Peters.

Geauga Republican Record Wins Two Prizes at State Show
William Woods of Cleveland pleaded guilty in Geauga county Common Pleas Court to driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to 84 days in jail with 21 suspended, fined 350 dollars, license revoked for one year, costs due, and two years probation. The Geauga Republican Record earned second in advertising and third for women’s pages at the Ohio state newspaper show, where about 400 papers were displayed amid remarks by Governor Lausche and others.

Paul F. Freeman Rites Held at Fowlers Mills Cemetery
Funeral services for Paul F. Freeman were conducted by Rev. Edward Kuehnel at Burr funeral home on Sunday September 14 at 2 30 p m. He was born June 17 1873 to Clinton and Evelyn Freeman and died September 1952 at his home in Munson. He married Pearl Pease on March 17 1926 and survives along with nieces and nephews. Freeman worked as a blacksmith, owned his shop for thirty years, served as custodian of the Fowlers Mills school from 1931 to 1946, and was active in the Fowlers Mills Christian church Maccabees and Munson Grange.

Agnes Baumgartner of Russell Township widow of Frank Baumgartner died at her son Frank’s home on Fairmount Road Wednesday Sept 10. Born May 21 1871 in Bohemia she emigrated to America in 1904 and settled in Cleveland later moving to their farm in 1919. She leaves son Frank daughter Emma Sedley nine grandchildren ten great grandchildren and other relatives. Services were held Sept 12 at Stroud Funeral Parlors Chagrin Falls and burial was at River View Cemetery beside her husband.

Services were at Laraway Funeral Home with burial at Middlefield cemetery. He was born Sept 17 1890 in Middlefield and served in World War I. Survived by wife Grace Bennington Ohl two daughters Agnes Bixler Ruth two sons Thomas and Richard one sister Bessie Jordan and two grandchildren.

From Sept. 6 through Sept. 18 eight divorce actions were filed in Geauga County Common Pleas Court.
