Auto Crash Injures Three Near Chardon
Three people were injured when a car driven by 61 year old Peter Sachs of R D 1 Chardon swerved from Route 6 east of Chardon Village and struck a utility pole. John Barthen, 74, suffered a broken hip and was taken to Huron Rd Hospital. Sachs suffered from shock and Ben Griggs had cuts to his right leg and were sent to their homes.

Chardon Airman Enlists for Sheppard AFB Training
Pfc. Walter T. Melkerson, 19, of Chardon, has entered the Airplane and Engine Mechanic's School at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas. The 22 week course provides intensive training in servicing inspecting and maintaining USAF aircraft. On graduation he earns the Airplane and Engine Mechanic rating and likely joins a major Air Force command for on the job experience. He is a Chardon High School graduate and worked for McBride Bros before enlisting August 15.

Recalls 25 Years of Pleasant Life in Chesterland
Mrs Lena Schumacker a former Chester resident now in South Euclid recalls 25 years of residence in Chester. The Schumackers bought their Chillicotherd property 35 years ago on December fifth. Mr Schumacker died March 22 1940 and the home later passed to Mr and Mrs T Eich who reside there. Mrs Schumacker now lives with her daughter and son in law at 4518 Rainbow Rd South Euclid.

The November meeting of Chardon PTA on Nov 6 featured the Hilltop Syncopators, six musicians led by Clyde Rand and county amateur contest winners, performing Margie It Had To Be You and A Simple Melody. St Joseph Blue Star Mothers Form New Chapter
The St Joseph Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America was instituted October 23 1951 at St Marys Church with officers installed October 30. Former Hambden Resident Floyde Barnum Dies in California
Maj. Floyde Barnum 73, retired U. S. Army, died Sunday November 4 at his Atascadero California home. Son of Hambden's Henry Barnum, he served in Spanish American War and World War I before retiring. Survived by Merle wife two sons Allan Keith and one in Navy, two daughters Dorothy and Anna May, a Toledo brother, burial in Golden Gate National Cemetery San Francisco.
