Burton groups announce pot luck at Congregational church on March 13 with an architectural report to follow. ADREM CLUB CLIO CLUB TUESDAY CLUB CLOVER CHAPTER AMERICAN LEGION and AUXILIARY meet March 17-20-21. Bake sale March 22. Village rubbish pickup begins March 3 with curb and yard options and fees. Many personal notices and local club activities and social gatherings fill the Burton community section.

Funeral for Montville Fire Chief Blanyer Held

Funeral services for Montville Fire Chief Joseph P. Blanyer 37 killed in a shop explosion were conducted at St Patrick's in Thompson with fire department pallbearers. Injured helper Robert Howell 30 moved from critical list. blast damaged shop and two autos with losses around 5000 dollars.

Pythian Sisters Hold Regular Session Donations Made

The Pythian Sisters met in regular session Wednesday evening with good attendance. Donations were given to the Cancer fund the Red Cross and Heart funds. Officers were present except the pianist Mrs Pauline Shaw. A lunch was served by the committee Pearl Bietel in charge.

Plan Monday Matinee for School Operetta Postponed

Chardon Grade School closes for the week so the matinee of Meet Arizona is postponed to Monday. Grade school students are barred from Friday performance to curb disease spread and reduce crowding. grades 9-12 students may attend Friday with adults. Curtain at 8 15 p.m.

Orrilla Harris Rites Tuesday

After a long illness Mrs. Orrilla Hopkins Harris 55 died at her parents home in Middlefield. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 30 p m at Lara way Funeral home with Rev Hal Ellison officiating and burial in Overlook cemetery Parkman. She was born December 3 1895 in Parkman and lived in Middlefield Garrettsville and Parkman. Survived by husband Jasper Harris son Baker Harris grandchildren two, parents Ona L and Ellen Hopkins, brother Leonard Hopkins.

Matthews Rites Held for Russell Resident

William P. Matthews born January 14 1877 died March 4 1952 aged 75 years. He lived most of his life in Russell Ohio, was a farmer and a member of Chagrin Falls Federated church. Survived by wife Helen two brothers Leon A Clyde W and two sisters Bessie and Anna M. Funeral services were held at Stroud funeral home Saturday at 3 pm conducted by Reverend John Townsend.

Chardon High School prepares its operetta for Friday night performance. The chorus lines expect tight rhythm as accompanists Bonnie Murray and Linda Kaszuk cue the music with confident baton work.

Jay Cees to Plan for Festival

The Chardon Jay Cees hold a regular meeting this Monday at 8 p.m. in the club rooms. Festival Chairman Jack Rodde will share news on Jay Cee plans for the festival, while Dr A John Rose discusses state organization redistricting. The nominating committee will be announced.

Munson Church Elects Officers at Meeting

Following the Sunday service a pot-luck dinner was held after which Munson Church elected officers. Elders include Summers Varney Johnson Justis Parpart Kelsey. Trustees cover five to one year terms. Various roles assigned to several members including treasurer Leon Rogers clerk Marie Summers and deacons and deaconesses with colorfully named volunteers. Organist Crawford Wright with assistants and a junior choir directed by Mildred Miller and the Lytles.

Priest from Skid Row to Speak at Geauga Meeting

Father Otis Winchester, founder of the Stella Malls and Anna Mary Homes for Alcoholics, will address the Geauga Mental Health Association at Middlefield School on Wednesday March 19 at 8:00 p.m. The renowned priest will speak frankly, opposing psychiatry, in a no-admission-charge event open to Geauga residents.

League Hears Constitution Reports and Local Events

The Chester League of Women Voters met at Mrs. Louis Haberer’s home with reports on the State Constitution. Meetings are set for March 14 at the Court House and March 18 at Mrs. Davies’ home. A Grange card party at Parkside Recreation featured pinochle and five hundred, with Steinfurth celebrating 23rd wedding anniversary. Various club activities, amateur show results, and upcoming plays at West Geauga were noted along with local bowling scores and a fellowship supper.

The Geauga County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis meets Wednesday March 19 at 8:00 p.m. at Mrs. Isabelle Rochert’s Raybell’s Market on 322 Chesterland. After reports and March of Dimes results, an election will be held.
