Contracts for Work on Chardon School
The Chardon Board of Education reports contracts totaling about 303000 for a new high school unit to be added to the grade building. Bids over the 339685 bond issue limited construction to two steps, with a third step deferred pending another bond issue. The plan covers an added gymnasium and a two story high school with labs classrooms a library home economics and commercial rooms, with a future shop and mechanical drawing area not yet funded.

Three escape as car crashes near Chardon in 1952
A 1931 Pierce Arrow sedan left Route 44 two and a half miles north of Chardon at 3 30 a m. The car tore 100 feet of guard rail and rolled into a 25 foot gulley. Driver George Schmidt 29 was treated for facial cuts. Lucie Randolph 21 and Harold Viasak were also treated for injuries. Fire and sheriff deputies investigated the crash.

Linn Curtiss reports continued demand for the famous Chardon liniment. Last week Philadelphia requested six bottles of liniment, six loaves of salt rising bread, and six quart cans of maple syrup. Curtiss bought bread from Richard and shipped the goods with the liniment and syrup to Philadelphia.

Special prosecutor Charles P. Baker Jr. of Painesville was awarded 2022.79 for handling a 72 count indictment against former Geauga Sheriff Stuart Harland. Judge William K. Thomas noted the unusually difficult assignment and outside county service. The ruling allocated 1500 to Baker, 450 to Wallace J. Baker Jr., 25 to Columbus lawyers, and 47.79 as miscellaneous expenses. The case proceeds to the Court of Appeals.

Three Hurt In Route 6 Head-On Crash Near Chardon
A head-on collision between a dump truck and car on Route 6, 2.5 miles east of Chardon, at 11 44 p m Saturday injured three people. Ray Aikens 48 Betty Renalds 45 and Richard Aikens 16 were taken to Huron Road hospital Cleveland with jaw and facial injuries and cuts. Drivers were Ray Aikens operator of the automobile and Nat Farinacci operator of the dump truck both from Chardon R D 4. The Aikens car was demolished and the truck front end smashed.
