Chester area service note reports Earl E Mansfield USN promoted to fireman while aboard the USS Essex during Korean War operations. He entered the Navy January 4 1951 after training at Great Lakes and is a West Geauga high school alumnus. Cpl William C Hayes remains reported missing in action.

Citizens Committee to Meet Friday in Geauga County

The Geauga County Citizens Committee will convene Friday February 29 at 8 00 p m in the Geauga County Court House. The first meeting on February 8 drew 30 residents from across the county with the League of Women Voters guiding the effort to study the Constitution.

The Lake and Geauga Gas Service and Julies Gift and Beauty Shop plan to move to 205 Main St the former Daniels Restaurant location. Final arrangements followed Daniels closure with moving slated for a weekend and not expected to interrupt business. The move enables a showroom for gas appliances and Pyrofax gas distribution while expanding service reach for local customers.

Funeral Rites Set for Richard H. Bostwick

Richard H. Bostwick, Geauga County attorney and longtime partner in the Bostwick firm, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on Claridon Road. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Burr Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Strong officiating. burial in Chardon Cemetery. He served as prosecuting attorney 1927–33 and held posts with Chardon Rubber Co. and Geauga Publishers. Surviving are his wife Miriam, two daughters, a sister, and three brothers.

Three Injured in Auto Accident at Rt 322 Intersection

A serious one car crash Tuesday at 11:43 p m at Rt 322 and Taylor Wells Rd injured driver Adrian Welch of Middlefield and two passengers Tim Evans of Claridon and Kenneth Smith of Middlefield. All were hospitalized at Lakeside hospital Cleveland. No report yet from Geauga sheriff's office.
