Sudden Death of an Estimable Young Lady in Garland

Miss Nora Sasser aged 19 dies after a 10 day illness from typhoid that progressed to an intestinal hemorrhage. Daughter of Mrs Eva Sasser her death shocks Garland where she trained at Preston Idaho College and planned to teach. Funeral services were held at Mrs W H Evans home and Garland hall with community speakers praising her character.

Funeral services and burial of Hazel Evans described

The report notes Hazel Evans sang solo during the service, with Sarah Fowler Barbara Rogers Mary Wanlass and Julia assisting in the chorus. The closing hymn Are These Arrayed in White was performed as F O Haws and Mary Wanlass sang a duet. The benediction was given by H S Rice and a large cortege followed to the city cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Burdett Smith.

Justice Smith Hears Haff vs Stark Theft Case At Trial

Albert Haff sued Martin Stark for 295 dollars alleging his horse was killed and harness wagon and other animal injuries at Sugar Co silo bridge. Thirteen witnesses testified and trial stretched into evening with 12 days for briefs. Attorneys were Foxley for plaintiff Perry for defendant. Next day C H Hales of Riverside faces trial.

Bishop A. R. Capener presided as choir led singing of We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet and Guide Us Thou Great Jehovah. Elders Thos E. King and O L Wilcox administered the Sacrament. Wm King and J J Shumway released as acting ward teachers. Speakers W L Grover and A J Hawks. Capener closed with remarks and 1908 financial statement. Doxology and benediction by J J Shumway.

Sunday School Union Meeting at Garland School House

The regular monthly Sunday School Union meeting convened at Garland school house at 2 p.m. last Sunday with Stake Supt Burdett Smith presiding. Twelve board members attended, four were excused, and representatives from Deweyville North Edwood North Garland Garland Tremonton Penrose and Riverside participated. Stake Prest M H Welling spoke on Sunday School work before department work was taken up.

State Relief Fund Sought For Italian Earthquake Sufferers

Persons riding or driving on town sidewalks are guilty of a mis demeanor and subject to a fine or imprisonment.

County Court Acts on Appointments and Licenses

The county court met in regular session January 18 with full board present. Road supervisors were appointed in multiple districts and deputy assessors named. A liquor license revocation issue for Collinston was considered, bond revisions ordered, and a special session set to review the case. Various notices, appointments, and local business updates followed, including births, store closings, and personnel changes.
