The December 4 school election in Hlder county precincts reports Hoopes defeating Fishburn by 24 votes in Brigham City precinct 5. Precinct 38 covering Tremonton areas lists Hansen facing Fridal with unclear totals. Precinct 1 awaiting results. overall changes to board seats are possible pending Box Ider results.
The Board of County Commissioners met December 21 1918. Gravel was approved at 25 cents per yard for a district road with a $250 appropriation. Interventions from Plymouth residents resulted in property payments of 292.40 to Zundel and 200 to Sylvester for right of way and fence construction. A Portage road change was accepted with a $500 state road fund allocation. Registrars were appointed for Boxelder and Promontory precincts. Communications covered license plates state road work and district health, with several items filed or deferred. Auditors and treasurers reports were approved and claims allowed, meeting adjourned.
City officials say the appointment of Dr. J. A. King of Tremonton as Garland City Physician is justified. They contend resident doctors failed to report contagious diseases, leaving the Board of Health in the dark about disease outbreaks and that only the council understands the full situation.
The Wilson Lumber Company of Tremonton shipped a carload of cement and other material to Black Pine Idaho for a church building costing about 8600 dollars. The church will contribute 3500 dollars with locals making up the balance. It will be a modern structure and a community blessing.
The Bear River Leader is accused of siding with Tremonton by praising open conditions while criticizing Garland. The Craze notes at least ten influenza cases in Garland and accuses the Leader and health officials of favoritism.
