Nearly 50,000 men daily will return home, with Red Cross coordinating care en route and local chapters forming welcome home committees to greet trains. Chambers of Commerce and civic groups are urged to cooperate to create heartfelt receptions nationwide.
The Twelfth district subscribed 459 million dollars to the Fourth Liberty loan, 114.2 percent of its 402 million quota, ranking seventh nationwide. Alaska led at 156 percent, followed by Arizona at 148 and Washington at 120. Northern and Southern California totals were not yet separated. All British birth citizens and Americans are asked to participate honoring Great Britain war service by the people and the armed forces.
Mr Hoover appeals for World Relief Week urging Sunday December 1 and following week for renewed service and sacrifice. He recalls pledges to meet war food needs, notes seas freed from submarines widen wheat access, and calls for feeding Belgium France Serbia Romania Poland Russia Armenia and liberated Southern Europe. The plan aims to prevent famine among 200 million people and shift from war conscience to world conscience.
The Board of Health and City Council of Garland Utah pass an ordinance requiring all persons within Garland City to wear gauze masks on public streets and in public places for thirty days starting November 24 1918 except at residence.
