De Anda pleads guilty in murder case competency hearing
In October 2009 a judge found De Anda competent to stand trial. The defendant admitted at the hearing to choking Quintana after bringing her to his home on December 18, 2008. Evidence included Romero’s testimony and a Mercedes of witnesses detailing the disposal of Quintana’s body and the autopsy findings.

FCEDC eyes prospects and billboard idea debate
FCEDC works with two new prospects to identify sites along with state incentives though no binding actions were possible due to no quorum. The board debated sharing $5,000 to co sponsor three highway billboards with the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce to promote jobs, with skepticism about return and budget limits. The discussion paused pending Garden City rebranding efforts. The board meets July 26 at 7:30 am at the City Administrative Center. meetings are open to the public.

The Buffalo Jones show progresses with Phil Hoke directing and West writing 24 songs about Buffalo Jones narrated by Zane Grey. Cast includes Brian Seagraves as Buffalo Jones and Rick Corbett as Zane Grey, with Bill Clifford as Mr Walton. Over 20 people involved aged 6 to 60, with double casting to fill 44 roles. Performances July 8 9 and 10 with tickets at United Way. proceeds go to charity.
