Nine Injured in Three Weekend Area Accidents
In Garden City area over the weekend nine people were injured in three collisions. First crash on US 50 near the bypass involved John Wigner and Buster Cox with Cox cited for reckless driving and Wigner for signaling failure. A second crash nine miles west of Garden City on US 50 injured Manley McNellis and Lt. Arthur Deverill Jr., with both cars badly damaged and injuries to McNellis and Deverill’s family. McNellis charged with failure to yield. A head on collision in front of the Hayn Motel on US 50 involved Mrs. Helen Schupman and Harvey Horton. both treated and released, Schupman charged for failure to yield, Horton and passenger Linda Horton treated for injuries.

Airman Sought In Triple Deaths
Dickinson Texas police issued an all points alert for a tall 25 year old airman about 190 pounds believed to have killed three people in a pine shaded home near the Houston Galveston Gulf Freeway. The victims were Mrs Ruby C McPherson 44 her son George Richard McPherson 12 and Mrs Zola Norman 65 the mother of Mrs McPherson. A California lead proved not helpful and the search continued.

In Jackson County Missouri a picnic jug credited today with saving Mrs. Marie Jewell from being crushed when a 30 foot tree toppled onto a picnic table at an outing spot. Her husband Alfred Jewell said the jug helped free her head, she was treated at Independence Sanitarium in satisfactory condition. Companion Mrs. Veda Shannon suffered head and shoulder bruises. her daughter and son-in-law Otis Taylor jumped into the lake to escape. The tree toppled due to weakness.
