US detains Chicago man in radiological bomb plot
Jose Pardo Padilla, also known as Abdullah al Muhajir, a U.S. citizen from Chicago, was captured as he traveled from Pakistan via Zurich to Chicago seeking targets for a dirty bomb within the United States. Investigators tracked him from Pakistan to O’Hare, with plans to transfer him to a Navy brig in Charleston, and the case marks a major blow to an al Qaida radiological attack plot.
