Statewide smoking ban gains support in Kansas Senate
Three Republican senators led by Sen. David Wysong push a statewide smoking ban with county by county votes. It would ban smoking in public places, permit hotels to reserve 20 percent of rooms for smokers, and impose fines from 100 to 300 dollars. The measure has backing from physicians Jim Barnett and Roger Reitz, with Gov. Sebelius endorsing the idea as part of health reform. The vote would occur on the Nov. 4 ballot in all counties to decide participation in a statewide ban.
