State to set deer as pet policy after fatal arrest
Kansas wildlife officials vow new guidelines on keeping wild animals, as game wardens shot a family's pet mule deer near Ulysses on December 19. The deer named Faline was killed in view of the family, who filmed the event, drawing nationwide attention and prompting questions about euthanasia procedures and field decision making. Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism secretary Robin Jennison said the agency will establish clearer policies and steps to ensure proper handling in similar cases.
