Salute ruling seals K State heartbreak in Pinstripe Bowl
Kansas State trailed Syracuse by one in the fourth before Adrian Hilburn’s end zone salute drew a 15 yard penalty and Carson Coffman’s ensuing pass to Aubrey Quarles fell short, giving Syracuse a 36 34 win. Coffman called the call bogus as the Wildcats finished 7 6 in their first bowl since 2006. Syracuse earned its first bowl win since 2001 with 498 yards of offense led by Delone Carter and Ryan Nassib.

K State players fume over excessive celebration call
Kansas State star Adrian Hilburn cried in the locker room after a 30 yard game tying strike from Carson Coffman was wiped by an excessive celebration flag. The flag forced an 18 yard conversion attempt as Syracuse held on for the Pinstripe Bowl win. Hilburn defended his salute saying he was caught up in the moment of a big play.

Stanford upset top ranked Connecticut 71 to 59 at Maples Pavilion to snap the Huskies 90 game winning streak. Jeanette Pohlen led Stanford with 31 points while Maya Moore was held to 14 as Stanford outworked UConn on the boards and held a strong lead through the second half.
