Kansas Jobs Dip as Unemployment Rises in July
Kansas lost 5,600 jobs in July and unemployment rose to 4.1 percent, matching July 2015. The report shows national gains of 255,000 jobs while Kansas lags, with private-sector losses led by professional and business services. KDOL economist notes Kansas City gains insufficient to offset state-wide declines. Democrats criticize the results as Gov. Brownback defends tax cuts amid budget troubles. Brownback touts a 3.8 percent rate as proof of growth and urges people to move to Kansas.
