Money floods Kansas Senate primaries as moderates face conservatives

Republican primary races for Kansas Senate are awash in money as moderate incumbents fight challengers backed by conservatives. Campaign reports show spending topped six figures in several races, with totals near or above $263,000 in one Topeka race, and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity heavily funding anti-tax, small-government efforts. The effort links moderates with labor unions and education groups, while leaders like Senate President Steve Morris face high-cost opposition from Rep. Larry Powell and others.
