The Famous Marsden Black Jack Mine Continues its Rise
The Marsden Black Jack Mine, with two 16 inch cross head pumps and a steam pump, a complete power plant of two 150 horsepower boilers, steam hoist, and electric dynamo, was set in motion on April 23 1906 and unwatered by May 9. Ten shafts span 165 acres with No 4 as the pump shaft and No 8 as a main hoisting shaft under construction. Knights Initiate Class At Local Lodge
Monday night the Knights of Columbus local lodge initiated eight men into the first degree. Mr C A David, a Southern Pacific traveling passenger agent, was in town on business and distributed several copies of a Lake Tahoe picture among friends. The lake, a favorite San Francisco summer resort, stands 6,000 feet above sea level and is noted as a picturesque state spot. The pictures were made and mailed from San Francisco just before the earthquake.
