Freeport Woman Dies After Drinking Carbolic Acid
Mrs. B. B. Dreher of Pleasant and Walnut streets was found dead in bed around 10:30 AM. The death is believed to be caused by a mistaken drink of carbolic acid kept as a small whiskey dose to ease stomach pain. A four ounce bottle contained only a teaspoonful, its brownish color suggesting long storage or poor quality.

John Smith of Florence died at St Francis hospital on a Saturday afternoon. Hours later his wife died after being told of his death.
