Minnows Preserved in Alcohol From 1880 Flood

George C. Biesmann preserves two to three dozen minnows caught on Galena Main street in June 1880. He sealed them in alcohol and expects long preservation. The 1880 flood on the Galena river and Mississippi flooded streets, ruined crops, and caused heavy losses to farmers, railroads, and river valley property owners.
