The board of education approved sidewalks around the new building and hill grading costs over $800 for cement walkways and a large retaining wall. The bluff edge will be cut back to improve the building’s visibility from downtown.

Schillian Bros of Lancaster Wisconsin have closed a large drilling contract with DeSoto Lead and Zinc company. Work will start immediately with expectations of good results. A notice invites holders of May 25 1906 duplicate Coatsworth sale bills to present them for cash. Geo C Biesmann of this city keeps a bottle containing two to three dozen minnows caught on Galena Main street in June 1880 during record floods. The water rose to a foot, flooding streets and low lands, ruining crops and causing heavy losses to farmers and railroad property along the river.
