Overcoat thief arrested after two coats stolen near Galena
Red Shanon, once of Galena, is jailed for stealing two overcoats. He took one coat from a farmer’s buggy and another from Whippa’s saloon, attempted to sell the first, was caught with both, and jailed. Jos Edge found a strong artesian flow on his Ben Lyons farm seven miles south of Benton. A mining company formed by Edge and his brother John plans extensive work at Black Jack with ore extraction to start in about two weeks after pump issues are fixed.
