Eighty Men Sent to Camp Taylor With Countywide Send-off
A crowd of about 3,000 gathered on Fulton Street and near the New York Central station to bid farewell to eighty Fulton County volunteers bound for military service. Bands from Archbold, York Center Arbor, and George Turnbull’s group plus a Boy Scouts unit led the long march to the depot. A patriotic address urged the men to serve in what was described as the greatest moral movement in civilization, as families and townsfolk offered support and prayers for their safe return.
