Two boys named Karsehner and Ostre haut took a Ford belonging to Estel Falor from Brailey during a Tuesday meet of the Big Farm Bureau and Co operative Sales Company. The Adrian police arrested them Monday evening and Sheriff Ford with Det McQuillin and J Falor returned the car to the owner, placing the youths in the County Jail.
A 400 tree orchard owned by William Frame of Waynesville Warren County nearly faced destruction in 1919. After attending an Ohio State University orchard demonstration he applied fertilizing spraying and pruning. By 1920 the crop sold for 1.50 to 3.00 per bushel and the orchard became a well known supplier to Warren County buyers. Frame says he will not sell and remains an enthusiastic grower. Also noted is a police report of a discarded Mitchell car found in a wood lot with no license plate and later recovered by its owner, Mr L Harr of Hillsdale. A promotional sale on suits at Samuel Ruppert is advertised.
Regular meeting held Friday evening with thirty members present. Mr Mountjoy the naturalist and publisher gave an interesting trip to the club urging protection of song birds and feeding them in severe weather. Club recesses until fall. plans a mid summer picnic at a lake with the entertainment committee arranging it.
Wauseon marks a belated Fourth of July with a civic celebration led by the American Legion to honor returning World War I veterans and dedicate the County Soldiers and Sailors Monument. The event features a 1:30 p.m. parade, speeches, a dedication, a baseball game, multiple bands, free attractions, tumblers, and the Mulholland Shows in the park during and after the day.
Jake Dziwski, proprietor of the Moonshine White Mule Still in Swan Creek township, was arraigned before Judge Barber in Probate Court last Monday. He was found guilty of intoxicating beverages and fined $400 plus costs. Unable to pay, he was remanded to County jail with work obligations at the Toledo Workhouse to settle the fine and costs.
Judge Wolf directs a special grand jury to handle cases requiring custody until October term. Foreman G W Lee and members including Howard Stott Segrist Agmend panting Wee Fink Croninger Huber Har Hough Bachman Stutzman Borton. Prosecutor presented six cases. seven witnesses testified. five indictments returned. one case ignored. Bradley and Terry indicted on multiple counts. Bradley arrested locally. Terry transported from near Michigan. Evangelical Church holds quarterly meeting July 8 to Sunday evening with Rev J E Deibler in charge. Shaw Knit hosiery advertised.
Lewis and Copeland completed the East Chestnut Street pavement, delivering nine to twelve inch thick concrete beyond spec for durability. Residents praise the work as the best street pavement in town and commend the contractors for quality and lasting effort. A separate note mentions a film at the Princess Theatre and the death of Mrs. Levi Mock after an auto accident in Tedrow.
