Narrow Escape From Death at Fulton Street Crossing

Bert Huffman escaped death by a narrow margin at the Fulton Street crossing of the New York Central Railway on Saturday afternoon. His wagon was wrecked and he suffered injuries, taken home by an ambulance after initial treatment. Disastrous fire followed, destroying a residence and barn on the H. and Hough farm, with efforts hampered by water supply issues and a nearby burning house impeding pump use. Red Cross May Knit Drive Supports War Effort

During the past week 391 nurses enrolled for Red Cross service in the Lake Division. May earnings total 84,399.72 dollars. Fulton County must supply 2,000 socks and 100 sweaters by September first. Instructions for knitting gear adjusted. many community groups contributed caps, bed shirts, sweaters, and other items. Local Grange notes show June meeting and picnic plans.

Ball A-Rolling Through Fulton County War Stamps Drive

Enthusiastic Meeting of Fulton County League of Patriots

About three hundred members of the League of American Patriots of Fulton county gathered at the courthouse last Friday evening. The meeting, open to all loyal citizens 48 years or older, emphasized unity and service to support the government during wartime. Resolutions adopted urged loyalty, exposure of pro German propaganda, support for the Red Cross and War Chest, and insistence that citizens join in aiding agencies serving American soldiers.
