Sergeant A D Moyer writes from Southern France about hotel life in Monte Carlo during a leave in January 1915. He describes rooms, dining, the Y M C A, a trip to Nice, and plans to buy souvenirs, with hopes the train home will run soon.
Professor William P. Holt of Bowling Green State Normal College will lecture at Tetrow Monday March with a morning session at the M. E. church and an evening program at the Methodist church. The program includes a museum demonstration, vocal solos, and a slide illustrated talk on the charm of the Mormon faith, with Supt C. D. assisting.
Obituary for A C Johnson of Fulton County born March 3 1850 near Metamora dies February 23 at his West Park Street home. He leaves seven children and a long record of farming and public service in Dover and Wauseon. Also notes a fall injury and a political lecture listing and a wartime submarine disarmament debate.
The Wauseon Boy Scouts expand to about seventy five members in three troops under Scoutmaster C Ives. Plans include a July 21 camp, a 12 day summer program, and a training school run by Dr E G Cole with several masters to supervise.
A Greek refugee mother from Mytilene writes to thank a donor family for a children's clothes package sent to her one year old daughter Bessie. The letter, translated with help, expresses gratitude, wishes for health and wealth, and asks for continued assistance. The note reflects displacement from Asia Minor and mentions the aid network through Mr. Charles Danakas of New York Candy Kitchen.
Helen Hartman presents an annual vocal and instrumental recital at the Public Library on Friday March 7 at 7 30 PM. The program features numerous student selections including Mother Goose songs and classical pieces. audience invited.
Pauline Stone a devoted teacher and Christian woman from Wauseon Ohio died in Delta at age 20. She taught in Stockbridge Michigan and Delta Ohio after graduating from Wauseon High School class of 1916 and Training School at Ypsilanti She leaves three sisters and an uncle with a broad circle of friends. Her funeral was conducted at Ed Scotts home and interment at Zion cemetery.
Tonight at 5 30 The Christian Church hosts soldiers sailors and their friends in Wauseon to honor ten County service members. The event invites soldiers and their guests to enjoy a welcoming evening with entertaining hospitality at the church home. Senator Hiram Johnson pushes to bring a Russia troop withdrawal vote, blocked by Legion allies as Vice President Marshall rules it out of order. Johnson vows daily motion until a hearing.
Burglars blew the rear door of Pege Hardware in Metamora last Sunday night and stole merchandise worth about 70 dollars and 1,000 in money. They took firearms, tires, and other goods. no witnesses were reported. Sheriff Boone and Deputy Megullin flood the case, with a 2500 dollar reward for capture.
